DESERT ALPINE | 5.7 Grade III

Clean and continuous friction climbing to the summit of an isolated sandstone peak.  This route is comparable to Checkerboard Mesa or the popular Aries Butte while being slightly longer(1000ft) and perhaps lower angle with even more continuous crack systems.  5.7 | Grade III/IV. 9 pitches of mulipitch climberWhile not extremely physical, the low angle  of this route is not considered physical climbing unique and it can take some time to adjust to the nuances of the white rock. Spring and Fall are the best times of year for an ascent.  The descent involves a 120ft rappel and some 3rd class downclimbing of the backside of the formation.

Start time is finalized at time of reservation.  Approximate start times for planning 7AM -9AM depending on season.

You are responsible to dress for the season. Do not wear your favorite clothing, canyons can be abrasive. Knee length shorts and T-shirts are recommended and commonly used during the summer months unless extra protection is desired. Short-shorts, tank tops, and jeans are not recommended. To keep all route options available wear shoes that can get wet. Lightweight hiking shoes work best. Trail running, and street running shoes work fine.
