Canyoneering trips access terrain that most visitors are not able to see on their own. We provide guide, equipment, transportation, and local logistics. Trips involve rappelling, hiking, down-climbing, stemming, and slot canyon exploration. Our trips are efficient and streamlined to maximize your time in the field. We use modern safety systems and simple instruction.

WHAT TO BRING HALF DAY

1 to 2 liters of water per/participant.

Hiking or approach shoes work best.

Running shoes or sneaker with tread will work fine.

Dress for the season but do not wear your favorite clothing items.

Knee length shorts and leggings can be worn for warmer temps.

Short shorts and tank tops are not recommended.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Compare our Half Day Trip

We offer 10+ canyons within the half day category while most guide services offer 1.  Our guides are full time local professionals not seasonal employees. Our trips are fast paced with the aim of doing and seeing as much as possible.  We do not water down our trips with excessive instruction or long guide speeches.

Are we in a group with others?

You will not be grouped with others.
Our trips are private.

How many rappels will we do

You can expect 3 – 6 rappels up to 120ft. If a high rappel count is a priority we can add a note to your reservation. The exact number  of rappels and rappel height is dependent on canyon. All the routes that we guide involve a healthy amount of rappelling and the main objective of any canyoneering trip is to experience slot canyon landscapes.

Will we get wet

Half day trips do not typically involve going through water but it is a possibility. Canyon conditions change regularly.  Your guide will talk with you prior to taking you to a route that involves going through water. We can almost always accommodate a dry trip if that is your preference.

Guided Trip or Instructional Course

Guided trips are the best option for most Zion National Park visitors. Instructional canyoneering courses are for participants that want to learn canyoneering systems for doing canyon routes on their own without a guide.

How high are the rappels

50ft to 120ft depending on route. Some canyons allow for rappel hight customization some do not. If you are concerned about rappel height understand that the position of a rappel is often more of a factor than height. We use a top belay system and can tandem rappel when necessary. Most of our guests are first timers and that is the norm.
