Half-Day Details

Canyoneering trips descend technical canyon routes. Trips involve rappelling, down-climbing, stemming, and hiking through slot canyons. Wading or swimming but is possible on some trips depending on season and route. If you do not want to get wet request a dry trip.

Canyon Locations

Half-Day Canyoneering trips take place in many different canyon routes. Starting location, canyon conditions, and season are factors in where your trip will go. Some trips offer multiple routes, others involve a single route.

Starting Locations

We pick up for all trips. Half-Day Canyoneering starts are available in:

  • Springdale
  • Zion National Park Campgrounds
  • Hurricane
  • La Verkin
  • ZNP Eastside Lodging
  • Mount Carmel Junction

Preparing for Your Trip

Equipment

We provide all equipment, helmets, harnesses, rappel devices, ropes. If necessary we provide backpacks, wetsuits, neoprene socks, and dry bags.

What To Bring

  • Snacks
  • Water – 1 to 2 liters for each participant/hot days will require more water, cool days less
  • Sunblock
  • Hat
  • Camera – SLR or smaller/GoPro’s can be attached to our helmets with the GoPro headband

What To Wear

Dress appropriately for the season. Do not wear your favorite clothing items, canyons can be abrasive. Knee length shorts and T-shirts are commonly used during the hot months. Ultra short shorts, tank tops, and jeans are not recommended.

Footwear

To keep all route options available wear shoes that can get wet. Lightweight hiking shoes work best. Trail running, and street running shoes can work fine.
