Steffan Bio:

Steffan has been professionally guiding rock, alpine, and desert canyons since 2009. Multi-pitch climbing is Steffan’s biggest passion, particularly here in Southern Utah, where he calls home. From establishing multi-pitch rock climbs to guiding long alpine routes, Steffan’s experience shines when he teaches. While Steffan is not guiding, he spends his time exploring the remote frozen waterfalls of the desert Southwest, completing demanding alpine objectives in Argentina and looking for fresh turns on his splitboard. Steffan is currently on the path to becoming a fully certified Mountain Guide through the AMGA. Steffan is a AMGA Certified Rock Guide, Assistant Alpine Guide, Apprentice Splitboard Guide and Assistant SPI Provider.

Join Steffan as he covers three key skills that are attainable and applicable to multi-pitch climbing. This clinic is perfect for those looking to get into multi-pitch climbing or who have followed routes and want to know more.  Even if you’ve been climbing for a while and need a refresher, come out!  This is a great way to meet people from the area and share a common goal of taking a step towards becoming proficient in two multi-pitch rescue skills.

Fallon bio:

Fallon has been climbing since 2003. She competed in climbing from 2004 to 2016, and has been coaching climbing for 8 years now (a mixture of youth teams and adult clinics). She has a geology degree and is a high school earth science teacher in St George, but her love for climbing has taken her on trips all over the Americas. As a coach, she is interested in mental training and performance for climbers, with a focus on self-compassion, Stoic philosophy, and other mindset strategies. Fallon is sponsored by Cypher Climbing, Hardwood Climbing, Hemp Best, and HILX. Fallon holds her NASM Mental Toughness Certification.

Fallon will introduce you to strategies for managing fear on lead, dealing with exposure on multi pitches, uncovering root causes of unhelpful thought patterns, and evaluating risk to honor your mind and body. Fallon can answer questions about how to improve your climbing mindset, learn to intercept negative thoughts, and employ grounding techniques to improve your mental performance on and off the wall. We will discuss the basics of practice falls, healthy communication, staying calm in stressful/rescue situations, and more.
